I started on this during my first year at Sint Joost. We had to choose a short story to make a scene from and I made a digital piece inspired by The Way Up to Heaven you can find here. After that assignment we had to create works inspired by our original piece. This felt work is meant to be the screen of a laptop where if you at the keyboard closely it spells out ‘Death is luv’, which has to do with the short story. The meaning behind the scene you see here is that one pig is drinking with it’s head down, while the other is looking at the approaching fire. The one in the water pushed to be the one who drinks first and the one watching the fire is planning on leaving without telling it’s friend. Just like in the story, the pig is aware of the danger, but chooses to leave the other to their own fate. Is it their own fault because of their previous actions? Even when you were able to help, but chose to do nothing?
