This piece came about because I was feeling like I really wanted to draw something that day, but I had no inspiration, so I was looking through photos that I had saved to draw and found an album concept photo of Joy from Red Velvet. I loved the colors and over-exposure, which I thought would be a fun challenge to portray. This piece was a bit experimental for me, using a bright red for linework and green instead of black. Like you sometimes get when taking photos of something on a screen. I also tried to add a lot of different tones into the skin, like purple, yellow and green. All combined with very flowy and painterly strokes, this is one of my favorite pieces I’ve made.
