The Night Watch Cafe

This piece is the first image of a 4 piece comic. I made this in a collaboration with 3 of my class mates at Sint Joost. We were tasked with finding items in the school to set up a scene with and then to make a comic out of. We collected a few mandarin oranges, bananas, an apple and a coaster from the business innovation majors. The scene that we created was a murder at a cafe, we decided to call it Cafe de Nacht Wacht (The Night Watch Cafe) because of the coaster. As you can see in the photos below, Ms. Apple stabbed Mr. Banana, killing him. The story that we made is that Mr. Banana was having an affair with Ms. Apple, but she didn’t know that he was actually married to Mrs. Banana, so in her anger she goes to the cafe and stabs Mr. Banana through the heart. Each of us made one scene for the comic and I was asked to make the opening scene. I wanted the Bananas to pop, so I made the tones of the cafe pink and warm oranges to contrast their green-yellow skin nicely.
