Shroomie

I made this piece based on the prompt “Mushroom” given to me by fellow artists in a drawing challenge group chat I am a part of. I didn’t really have any inspiration so I just looked up different types of mushrooms until I found one that spoke to me. I found a photo of a mushroom called “Boletellus obscurecoccineus”. It’s usually red and yellow, but the one I found was bright pink and green. Inspired by the colors, I wanted to make him a little cheeky guy, with an expression that says: “I know I’m special”.

I started with making the lineart. I wanted it to have a cute cozy vibe, so I chose a dark brown instead of black and an HB pencil brush. I then did multiple washes of color with a watercolor brush for a soft effect. Lastly, I added details like the water droplets and the face. I unfortunately did not save progress photos before merging my layers together, otherwise I would show you :)
