Beaded Wallet
December 2024
I made this piece during my first year at Sint Joost Illustrated and Animated Storytelling program. It was part of an assignment where we had made an image for a news article and based off of that image we made an abstract piece. After that we had to make a work combining the story element of the original article image and the visuals of our abstract work. Both of those you can find here! I had decided to make a wallet to add to the story of the man using the flying car to go to work and so I also made an I.D. and tickets inside. The design is an even more simplified version of the abstract work. On the front side of the wallet I portrayed the angles of the car flying around the side of the building. Then on the backside I made the sun rising behind the skyscraper. I used a tutorial on Youtube for the design of the wallet itself and quilting fabric I had in my house. At the time I could not find our Iron, so I opted to not press the seams before moving onto the next steps, but it does show in the final product. So if I were to make another one I would be more patient and thorough in the process.
