Sketches
Here you will find all of my sketches accompanied by a small description!
This sketch is based on Ponyo’s mother in the Studio Ghibli film “Ponyo”. I actually just started drawing a face from a reference and drew the orange hair and then I realized it could be Granmamare, Ponyo’s mom and so I added more details.
I made this sketch on vacation in Friesland with a friend of mine. She was reading a book, so I was just messing around with my colored pencils. I was doodling pointy shapes and then I got the idea to make a rainbow background. I was curious how smooth of a transition I could make between opposite colors, so I spent my time shading as lightly as I could.
This sketch is based off of a photo of Liz from the kpop group Ive. I think I had just made my piece Joy with Rose and I wanted to make something in a similar painterly style.

I first started drawing the girl for this sketch. I wanted her to have a kind of Gyaru style makeup and vibe. After I had drawn her, I was thinking of what else I could add to make the drawing more interesting. I decided I would make it like an album cover.
This is a half finished sketch of my original character Ruby! She is a shapeshifter alien come to earth to escape an alien government with her friend Crystal. I recently made a new piece with ruby in it, check it out here!
This was a sketch I made when I realized I don’t draw men very often, other than in fanart. So I was practicing drawing a guy from my own head instead of a reference. I was planning on making this a very steampunk inspired piece and have him hold some kind of fire or light.
I can’t really remember what the inspiration was behind this sketch, but I think I was cat-sitting at the time for my friend and drawing something for fun to pass the time. I do however remember drawing a woman at first, but accidentally shading too much on the chin. So I turned it into a beard and made her into a feminine man!
I don’t think there was much inspiration behind this sketch, I’m pretty sure I had found a photo on Pinterest and used it as reference!
This sketch was the first one I ever made of my characters Crystal and Ruby. I was drawing a face and decided to give them faceted eyes, because gems are something I often sketch if I’m bored or don’t know what to draw. I thought Crystal would be a good name and then tried to think of other gemstones that are common names and landed on Ruby!
This was a study I did in 2020. Back then I had trouble with proportions, so I sometimes measured out a few key points before drawing faces. This time I wanted to draw from reference without being able to measure anything. So I took a photocard and drew directly next to it. This is member Seulgi from the group Red Velvet!

This sketch started with the face in the right corner. I wanted to try to make a natural looking portrait using bright, non-skin colors. I then made the glamorous cat and then the beach landscape on the left. I also really liked how the strawberry turned out. I had used a yellow for highlight and instead of using black for shadow I opted for a blue and I think it turned out very well!
This is a little piece I did in 2022. I remember I was at high school in a free period with nothing to do. So I looked for interesting reference images to draw and this was one of them! I think I wanted to draw this one also specifically because it’s not a person. At that time and honestly even now, I really only drew people. So I thought this would be a nice practice for me. I think it turned out well and I especially love the way I did the negative-space branch. I think it makes the scene feel a bit cold and wintery, as opposed to a warmer brown color.
I made this sketch in 2024 when the ‘Bayonetta’ makeup look trend was popular. I thought it was really cute, but it felt kind of embarassing to wear glasses when you don’t need them haha. So Instead of me wearing them I drew a character to wear them! I don’t remember where I was when I made this, but I do know that I only brought a few markers and colored pencils with me. So I decided to make her skin green for the fun of it! I also added a simple background of text messages and a phone ringing symbol on silent.
